    The idea started at a quilting retreat to use up a stash of scraps and have an easy to travel with project that could be done by hand. It took 4 years to complete. I was able to take small amounts of pre-cut fabrics during my travels and enjoy piecing the hexagons. It has taken 3800 hexagons (counted by my family). These were made during my travels to 14 countries. I was sewing them during waiting times etc, in hotel rooms, airports, ferry boat lounges, buses, planes, cars and even while traveling in our 5th wheel and truck. The fabric was selected at random from my stash and when I needed more variety an exchange of material was made with other quilters. This is a quilt that you do once in a lifetime.
